Lassana Bathily was an illegal immigrant who was living in France. If you remember, during the Charlie Hebdo events, there was a guy who entered in a Kasher supermarket and took the people in otage. Lassana Bathily was in the supermarket when it happened. He helped people to hide in a cold room in order to escape to the terrorist. Then he escaped from the Supermarket and informed the police. All the people he helped survived.

Few days after, he received a medal from the French president and the French nationality.

If we had been in the supermarket, none of us would have tried to escape, we would have all hided ourself. He can be considered as a hero, without speaking of the bravour he showed by informing the french police even if he was an illegal immigrant.

Lassana Bathily is definitely the man of the year.
